There is no question that abortion was a top issue for voters this year. This was the first presidential election to follow the Dobbs decision, so it was talked about more than ever before.
Spotlighting abortion changed the narrative, educated voters, and influenced candidate positions. Polls consistently showed that voters, regardless of age, race, and party affiliation, wanted abortion to be legal and available nationally.
Our Commitment to Safe Abortion
Regardless of the election outcome, FPA Women’s Health will continue providing safe and legal services.
We are fortunate that after Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022, California voters amended our state constitution to ensure that the state cannot deny or interfere with a person’s reproductive freedom. Still, we will continue to use every tool possible to fight for women everywhere to make our own decisions about pregnancy and parenting.
We will organize, educate, and change hearts and minds as we help people get care, even if the outlook feels dire. We have been providing life-saving abortion care since 1969 and we don’t intend that to change any time soon!
If you are looking for ways to get involved and support reproductive freedom in this time of uncertainty in many states, we encourage you to support your local abortion access funds and independent clinics. We recommend volunteering time or donating patient funding to our wonderful partners at ACCESS Reproductive Justice. You can also ensure your voice is heard locally by providing your feedback to your local officials and participating in city and state elections, which influence decisions at the national level.
