It has been four days since the condom broke while we were having sex. Can I still take the "morning after pill"?
Yes! You can still take the "Morning After" pill, or Emergency Contraception (EC), four days after an act of unprotected intercourse, but it won't work as well. Levonorgestrel is the hormone in EC and works to prevent ovulation. The longer you wait to take EC after having unprotected intercourse, the more likely you are to become pregnant. The most effective type of EC is the Paragard IUD which will work to prevent pregnancy up to seven days after unprotected intercourse!
